Devotional: Joy, Advent Week 3

In this devotional, we are exploring the promise of joy and how to find it in our darkest moments. Joy is a deep-seated and long-lasting emotional state that comes from knowing and experiencing God’s love, grace, and salvation. It is not tied to external circumstances or fleeting pleasures, but rather a lasting sense of contentment and peace that comes from a relationship with God.

As we continue on our journey of faith, it is important to remember that joy is a choice. We can choose to experience joy, even in the darkest of times. In fact, it is God’s will that we experience joy in this life. To do so, we must answer our call to live into God’s promises and seek a relationship with God.

It is also important to remember that joy is communal. It is not something we experience alone, but rather something that is shared and sharable. Joy is not found in selfishness, but rather in building others up and strengthening the weak hands of others. When we focus on building others up and bringing them along on our journey, it is then that healing occurs and we truly experience joy.

So, in our darkest moments, let us remember the promise of joy and choose to experience it. Let us seek a relationship with God and focus on building others up. As we do so, we will find joy in the journey, and in the healing and growth that comes from it. May we always remember the joy that is promised to us and seek it out, no matter what obstacles we may face. Amen.
