Week 4 – “Give us this day our daily bread”

In the fourth line of the Lord’s Prayer, we ask God to provide for our basic needs. We trust that He will give us what we need to sustain us, day by day.

This trust is reflected in Psalm 23:5, where it says, “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” The Psalmist knows that even in the presence of enemies, God will provide for him, and not just the bare minimum but an abundance.

In Philippians 4:19, Paul reminds us that “my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” God’s provision for us is not limited by our circumstances or resources, but by His boundless riches in Christ Jesus.

As we pray “Give us this day our daily bread”, let us trust in God’s provision for us. Let us remember that He is our provider, and He will meet all our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus.

Dear God, give us this day our daily bread. We trust in your provision for us, knowing that you are our provider. We thank you for your boundless riches in Christ Jesus, through which you meet all our needs. Help us to remember that you are always faithful to provide for us, and to have faith in your provision for us, in Jesus name we pray, Amen.
